KNow Your risk

You check your equipment. It’s time to check yourself.

This September, TacMobility and The Nerdy NP are challenging first responders to stop guessing about their health and find out what is actually happening underneath the hood.

You change the oil.

You check the tires.

You inspect your equipment.

You make sure everything you rely on is ready to perform when you need it.

But when your own body starts sending warning signs—exhaustion, brain fog, poor sleep, weight changes, low energy, headaches, or just feeling like shit—it’s easy to ignore them and keep pushing.

Those symptoms are information.

And putting your head in the sand doesn’t make the risk disappear.

What Is the Know Your Risk Campaign?

Know Your Risk is a month-long health awareness campaign encouraging first responders to:

  • Schedule an appointment with their medical provider

  • Request appropriate bloodwork and health screenings

  • Pay attention to symptoms they may have normalized

  • Ask better questions about their health

  • Learn what their individual risk factors may be

  • Create a baseline they can track over time

This isn’t about diagnosing yourself on the internet or panicking over every symptom.

It’s about getting real information, working with a qualified medical professional, and taking responsibility for the body carrying you through this career.

You cannot address a problem you refuse to look for.

Your Body Is Part of Your Equipment

First responders are trained to inspect the tools they depend on—but many will go years without getting a comprehensive picture of their own health.

Feeling exhausted all the time isn’t just “part of the job.”

Poor sleep shouldn’t automatically be dismissed because you work shifts.

And symptoms don’t have to become a crisis before they deserve your attention.

The dashboard lights are already flashing.

This campaign is your reminder to stop covering them with electrical tape.

Get checked. Ask questions. Know your numbers. Know your risk.

Who Is Behind the Campaign?

Erica Gaines | TacMobility

Erica Gaines is the founder of TacMobility and has spent years helping law enforcement professionals understand the connection between stress, recovery, performance, and long-term health.

She has trained more than 3,000 first responders and is known for making wellness practical, honest, and significantly less painful than the typical check-the-box training.

TacMobility is a nationwide training company on a mission to radically change the health of first responders - body, mind, and soul. Erica’s role in this campaign is to ask the questions first responders are actually thinking and help connect what happens on the job with what may be happening inside the body.

Sarrah Lester | The Nerdy NP

Sarrah Lester is a nurse practitioner and the professional medical voice behind the Know Your Risk campaign.

Throughout September, Sarrah will help answer common questions, explain the purpose of different health conversations, and encourage participants to work directly with their own qualified healthcare providers.

Together, Erica and Sarrah are breaking down the information you need without the fear tactics, shame, or medical word salad.
